  1. It must be said that teacher and administrator salaries are based on the number of years the individual has within a school system. It also depends on the amount of education (for example a teacher with their Masters plus 40 has a higher pay scale than a new teacher fresh out of college). That being said, one must see that Webster County has very few "new" teachers, and as the older teachers go into retirement, the average teacher salary will drop.

  2. The teachers/service personnel are only paid for 10 months, not 12, also.

  4. Has anyone looked at the level of education or years of experience as an administer that is involved when deciding a on Superintendent for a school system? That speaks very loudly in this seniaro. You get what you pay for. Webster County has very little to offer when searching for a Superintendent. Not many quality professionals bother with an area such as our's. I assume one would be shocked and surprised at the applicants who have tried to secure that position in the past............but, then again, you know what happens when one "assumes"......

  5. "Per student our Superintendent is on top of the list." Not true, but relatively close to the top. Thanks to the above astute reader, we looked at all 55 Superintendents' salaries on a per pupil basis and found that Dean's salary is the 13th highest Superintendent salary among the 55 County Superintendents. Superintendents in Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Grant, Pendleton, Pleasants, Pocahontas, Ritchie, Summers, Tucker, Tyler, and Wirt Counties ranked ahead of Webster.
