Michael York |
Among the many indictments returned by the Webster County Grand Jury which met on January 16, 2013 was the joint indictment against Michael York and Amanda York for the triple homicide that occurred in Hacker Valley on June 27, 2012.
Michael York was indicted for three counts of the felony crime of Murder, for the murders of Lamar D. Allen, also known as Elle (L.A.) Coates, Denise L. Coates, and Dustin T. Brown, by the use, presentment, or brandishing of a firearm. Michael York was also indicted for the felony crime of Concealment of a Deceased Human Body, being the body of Dustin T. Brown, by moving and attempting to conceal said body, where death occurred as a result of criminal activity, being the shooting of Dustin T. Brown.
Michael York was also indicted for the felony crime of Prohibited Person Possessing a Firearm, in that he was previously convicted of a felony crime of violence against the person of another, being Felonious Assault, in Lorain County, Ohio, on or about April 15, 2008, and did thereafter possess a firearm, being a Remington Model 700 .30-06 rifle, and/or a JC Higgins/Sears bolt action shotgun, and/or a JC Higgins/Sears Model 20 .12 gauge shotgun, and/or a Springfield Model L7F .20 gauge shotgun.
Michael York was further indicted on two felony Conspiracy charges, being a charge of conspiracy with Amanda York to conceal the deceased body of Dustin T. Brown, and a charge of conspiracy with Amanda York to murder the three above-name victims.
In all, Michael York was indicted on seven felony crimes. Amanda York was indicted on five similar felony crimes.
Amanda York |
Amanda York was indicted for the same three felony murder charges brought against Michael York and on the same two conspiracy charges also brought against Michael York, as more fully detailed above.
Both York's remain incarcerated and are being held without bond. Indictments are merely formal charges or accusations and are not evidence of guilt. A Grand Jury hears only the evidence presented by the Prosecuting Attorney in deciding whether to charge any individual with a crime.
The Grand Jury foreperson signing the York's indictments was Clark R. White. The indictments against the York's were founded upon the testimony of State Police Trooper S.C. Baier.
UPDATE: The York's and the other people indicted will be arraigned in front of Circuit Judge Jack Alsop on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Circuit Courtroom of the Webster County Courthouse in Webster Springs, West Virginia. An arraignment is a hearing to determine whether an indicted person desires to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, or defer the plea until a later date, and to set trial dates. Unlike the Grand Jury proceedings which are secret, the arraignment is an open hearing at which the public may attend.

I want to know how you can be charged or guilty of murder if one, you didnt order or have the murder committed, or two pull the trigger. I just dont understand. Do I think Amanda should be punished?? Sure. But not for killing someone, because she didnt.
ReplyDeleteGood step toward's justice :)
ReplyDeleteThese people do not deserve to see the light of day again. The pain they have caused the parents and family members are unforgivable.
ReplyDeleteAmanda York should die in prison, she is as guilty as her husband!!!! I hope they both die and rot behind bar's
ReplyDeleteAmanda York is just as guilty as he is, she is cold hearted and evil in the lowest form, she would have to look UP to a snake! What she did in helping him, and what she did to her innocent children, ruined them for life, and to COUNTLESS other families who she scarred forever, she is a murderer.Maybe you (anoymous)dont know as much as you think you do,I am sure the law knows more then you do.I hope they BOTH live long unhappy lives in prison, until they die,I hope they rot there.Good call on the indictments!!!
ReplyDeleteOK, so anonymous 1, were you a witness to this murder? Evidently there is enough evidents to indict her.
ReplyDeleteDid she NOT conspire with or help her husband conceal that young mans body ? A lot of things can be avoided, but there was no attempt on their (Yorks)part to avoid this. The police could have been called by them at sign of possible altercations or feeling threatened. Dont most spouses know whats going on verbally or physically within their households ? Yes, sadly, unforgiveable, she is just as guilty.
ReplyDeleteShe was there with him so she knew about it and couldve stopped it but she didn't thus a conspiracy and shes just as guilty as him same rule aplies if a drugie lives with you and is styling and manufacturing from your home in a closet and you don't know about it and they get you do to cuz in the laws eyes they lived there and you knew about it whether you did or didn't you get a conspiracy charge if not the main charge because its your personal property and or dwelling from which their doing it from its b.s. if you ask me but these ppl don't ned to ever see society again and I how the faces of those who they murdered and dragged around haunt them the rest of their life
ReplyDeletei think there both were they belong...behind bars for life...one is just as guilty as the other i know one of there victums Dustin and he was a great guy that didn't deserve what happen to him....both of the yorks in my opion are cowards and are only getting half of what they deserve
ReplyDeleteI am Dustin's mother, and what those two did to our family...whatever they get will not come close to what they did to us,They not only murdered him, they murdered a whole community! You can be dead (inside)and still walk around, they are BOTH murderes! And I will fight until the day I die for justice of some sort for their evil deeds! And I live for the day to see that smirk wiped off their evil faces! If you know she didn't pull the trigger, you must of been there,The only wittness besides the York's are dead to my knowledge! And who would take "her"words that she didn't?We all know what a lier she is.
ReplyDeleteReta, the Commentator would much rather run photos of your son and the other two victims than these two defendants. If you have one of your son, and the Coates', if you desire, you can email them to the Commentator at:

I JUST WANT TO SEE JUSTICE SERVED FOR THIS FAMILY ! I CANNOT BEGIN TO IMAGINE HOW THE PARENTS OF DUSTIN T BROWN FEEL !!! IT WAS A HORRIBLE SENSELESS CRIME! I BELEIVE BOTH SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH THE SAME CHARGES! SHE IS AS GUILTY AS HER HUSBAND! I AM A FRIEND OF DUSTINS AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE JUSTICE SERVED ON BOTH YORKS! R.I.P DUSTIN T. BROWN
ReplyDeleteCharles Manson never personally murdered anyone, but was convicted on this, " joint responsibility rule" which makes anyone that is involved in a conspiracy guilty! So good luck to you Amanda and that offensive little smirk of your's!!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone has an opinion but unless you lost someone to this tradegy your opinion doesn't really matter. Many of the blogs I have seen have spoken ill of or degraded the characters of the victims. Some have spoken of the characters of the persons who committed this horrific crime. Regardless of what you may feel about the victims in regards to background, race or rumors they were still human and had families. My uncle and aunt(two of the three victims) were MURDERED by these two the day before my birthday and we were notified the day of my birthday. All my family wants is to know the truth and justice. My family sends condolences to the parents and family of Dustin Brown. We know your pain and your loss.

ReplyDeleteI whole heartedly agree with most comments and the court’s decision. Both Michael and Amanda York deserve the sentencing that was awarded to them. The chilling murder left me, Lamar Allen’s x-wife, saddened with a black hole in my heart. It’s a violation to take one life or conspire of the same. This homicide took THREE lives! Good justice call. Thank you S.C. Baier and Clark White. Also, I thank you all for your comments.
