Webster County Disaster Assistance Explained

Disaster assistance for damages to house structures from the June 29, 2012 wind storm is now being processed through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

According to Office of Emergency Services (OES) Director Richard Rose, the deadline for applying for the assistance through FEMA has been extended through December 19, 2012. Information about this assistance program is available through the OES (and is NOT available or processed through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources-WV DHHR). Residents can also apply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.

At the present time, FEMA is not yet processing any assistance for damages from the October 29, 2012 snow storm, although Rose expects an announcement on that in the near future.

Other county residents have been applying for another form of disaster assistance, known as D-SNAP benefits, which stands for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Information about the D-SNAP benefits is available through the WV DHHR.

More information about the disaster assistance is contained on the video below.
