Drug Crimes Continue to Occupy Webster Police

Joshua Kevin Cox
The news in Webster County continues to be dominated by people either pleading guilty to or being arrested for drug crimes.

Thursday, February 7, 2012, was no different as the State Police arrested a Cowen man for allegedly possessing drugs with the intent to sell the same, and for operating or attempting to operate a meth lab.

Joshua Kevin Cox, age 30, was arrested after Child Protective Services' worker Charles Myers received information that drug activity, including a meth lab, was allegedly occurring at the Cox residence and that children were present at the residence. Myers then alerted local police about the information, and a whole host of law enforcement then went to the residence, including officers from the State Police, Webster County Sheriff's Department, the Cowen Police Department, and the Webster Springs Police Department.

According to the criminal complaint filed against Cox, State Trooper S.G. Blake noticed an odor of camping fuel upon entering the residence. Blake then secured consent to search the residence and officers found several items used in the manufacturing of meth. Police also recovered two small baggies of what is suspected to be meth from the person of Cox.

The complaint further alleges that Cox confessed to making meth shortly before the officers arrived, as well as on several other occasions over the past few months, and he allegedly admitted selling meth on prior occasions as well. Cox is incarcerated at the Central Regional Jail; his bail was set at $125,000.00.

A criminal complaint is only an allegation that a crime was committed, and is not proof of guilt.
